Thomas Vanassche

Thomas Vanassche is a Cardiologist at University Hospitals Leuven since August 2015, specializing in thrombosis and vascular medicine, hypertension and cardiovascular prevention, and intensive cardiac care. In addition to clinical practice, Thomas serves as an Assistant Professor at KU Leuven since October 2016 and has been involved in cardiology specialist training at UZ Leuven since July 2007. Previous experience includes a Research Fellowship at McMaster University focusing on Clinical Research in Thrombosis and Hemostasis (2013-2014) and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from KU Leuven, awarded in December 2013, with research concentrating on bacterial interactions with the human coagulation system under the supervision of Professor Peter Verhamme. Thomas also completed internal medicine specialty training at AZ Sint Maarten from July 2007 to July 2009, holding an MD and PhD from the University of Leuven.
