Michiel de Maat

Michiel de Maat is a highly experienced medical professional specializing in abdominal surgery and surgical oncology. Currently serving as a Consultant in the Department of Abdominal Surgery at UZA since April 2020, Michiel has previously held positions as a Gastrointestinal Surgical Oncologist and Fellow in Surgical/Upper-GI Oncology at UMC Utrecht. Additional experiences include a Fellowship in Abdominal and Bariatric Surgery at UZA, a Surgical Resident at azM / Maastricht UMC+ and Zuyderland, and a Research Fellow at the John Wayne Cancer Institute. Michiel completed a PhD in Medicine and an MD from Leiden University and holds a background in science from Delft University of Technology and Sint Ursula in Horn.
