David Wilson

Head of RNA Discovery at Vaccitech

David Wilson has a diverse work experience in the field of biomedical engineering and research. David began their career as an REU student and tutor at Syracuse University in 2011. David then became an undergraduate research assistant, where they focused on developing a block copolymer micelle for drug delivery and studying the immunomodulatory effects of pseudomonas aeruginosa quorum signaling molecules on cystic fibrosis diseased lung epithelial cells.

In 2013, they served as a mentor in the National Science Foundation Research Experience and Mentoring program at Syracuse University. Their responsibilities included guiding an underrepresented undergraduate student in a year-long research project.

David went on to pursue a research fellowship and PhD at Johns Hopkins University starting in 2014. There, they worked in the laboratory of Dr. Jordan Green and contributed to the development of polymeric materials for nucleic acid delivery and cancer immunotherapy.

In 2019, David joined Avidea Technologies as a scientist, where they worked on various projects related to drug delivery. David later advanced to the role of senior scientist, demonstrating their expertise and commitment to the field.

Currently, David is the Head of RNA Discovery at Vaccitech, a position they assumed in 2022. Their work at Vaccitech involves leading the team in the discovery and development of RNA-based therapeutics.

Overall, David Wilson's work experience demonstrates a strong background in biomedical engineering, drug delivery, and research, with a consistent progression of responsibilities and expertise in the field.

David Wilson attended Smithsburg High School from 2006 to 2010. After completing high school, they enrolled at Syracuse University College of Engineering and Computer Science in 2010, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering. David studied at Syracuse University until 2014. Following this, David continued their academic journey at The Johns Hopkins University, specializing in Biomedical Engineering. David is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree, which they started in 2014. As no end year is provided, it can be inferred that they are still working towards completing their Ph.D. at The Johns Hopkins University.
