Simon Alvis

Vice President of Manufacturing at Vaccitech

Simon Alvis has extensive work experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Simon is currently serving as the Vice President of Manufacturing at Vaccitech, a role they began in November 2020. Prior to that, they worked as the VP CMC at Psioxus Therapeutics from May 2012 to November 2020. Before joining Psioxus Therapeutics, Simon was a Team Leader at NDA Analytics from April 2011 to April 2012.

Simon's earlier career includes roles at Emergent BioSolutions, where they held multiple positions. Simon was the Manager of Analytical Development from February 2010 to May 2011, leading the development and qualification of analytical assays. As the Principal Scientist of Analytical Development from January 2008 to February 2010, they designed and conducted assays for regulatory submissions. Simon also served as a Process Development Scientist from January 2006 to January 2008 at Emergent BioSolutions, where they developed purification processes and formulated protein vaccines.

Prior to Emergent BioSolutions, Simon worked as a Protein Purification Scientist at The Binding Site from November 2004 to January 2006.

Simon Alvis completed their BSc in Biochemistry from The University of Edinburgh from 1996 to 2000. Simon later pursued a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Southampton, where they studied from 2000 to 2004.
