Klaus Bergner has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in different companies.
From 2008 to 2009, they worked as a Diplomarbeit at Fraunhofer FEP. In 2009, they became a Studentische Hilfskraft at Fraunhofer IOF until 2011. During that time, they also worked as a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for a brief period in 2010.
In 2011, they worked on their Masterarbeit at Stockholm University before joining Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena in 2012 as a Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter, where they stayed until 2018. During this time, they also worked as a Lecturer at Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena from 2016 to 2018.
In 2018, they became the Head of Research and Development at VACOM Vakuum Komponenten & Messtechnik GmbH until 2020. Klaus then took on the role of CTO Vacuum Technology at the same company from 2020.
Starting in 2022, they began working as a Lecturer at Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena, and also joined IUVSTA as an IUVSTA VSTD Member Germany.

Klaus Bergner began their education in 2004 at Fachhochschule Jena, where they pursued a degree in Diplom-Ingenieur (FH). Klaus completed this degree in 2009. Klaus then went on to further their education at the same institution and obtained a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree from 2009 to 2012. Finally, Klaus pursued their doctoral studies at Friedrich Schiller University Jena from 2012 to 2018, where they earned a Doctor of Engineering (Dr.-Ing.) degree in the field of Technische Physik/Angewandte Physik.
