Doug Cairns

Doug Cairns has over 30 years of work experience in technical roles. Doug currently serves as the Chief Engineer at Vadum Inc. since 2021. Prior to their current position, they spent seven years at SAS, where they held various roles including Senior Technical Manager, Principal Machine Learning Developer, and Senior Research Statistician Developer. Before their time at SAS, Doug worked at Northrop Grumman Corporation as a Senior Member of Technical Staff for four years. Doug started their career at Ericsson, where they held the position of Senior Member of Technical Staff for over a decade. Doug began their professional journey at IBM as a Member of Technical Staff for nearly seven years.

Doug Cairns has a Master of Science and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Duke University. Doug also holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. In addition to their degrees, they have obtained a SAS Base Programmer certification from SAS in April 2015.
