Director of Software Engineering at Vala Sciences

Randy Ingermanson has a diverse work experience in various industries. Randy began their career as a Staff Scientist at Maxwell Technologies, where they worked on computational physics problems in the pulsed power industry. Randy then moved on to Integration Partners, Inc., where they worked as a Software Engineer, specializing in automating the design of industrial boilers. In 1999, they returned to Maxwell Technologies as a Senior Staff Scientist, focusing on plasma opening switches and plasma radiation sources.

In 2000, Ingermanson joined Q3DM, Inc. as a Software Architect and technical lead, developing software for the Q3DM EidaQ 100 High Throughput Scanning system. This role continued until Q3DM was acquired by Beckman Coulter in 2003, where Ingermanson transitioned into a Software Engineer role.

After the project was canceled, Ingermanson founded their own company, Ingermanson Communications, Inc., which specializes in teaching fiction writing. Randy sells educational products and publishes the Advanced Fiction Writing E-zine, the largest of its kind.

In 2006, Ingermanson joined Vala Sciences, Inc. as the Director of Software Engineering and Software Architect. Randy continued their work of designing software to analyze images of biological cells. Their notable accomplishment is the development of CyteSeer, a Java-based tool for analyzing well-plates or batches of well-plates.

Overall, Randy Ingermanson has extensive experience in software engineering, computational physics, and teaching, with a specific focus on the analysis of biological cells.

Randy Ingermanson pursued their education in the field of Physics. From 1976 to 1980, they attended Pacific Union College, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics and Mathematics. Subsequently, they continued their academic journey at the University of California, Berkeley from 1980 to 1986, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Physics.
