Brett Smit

Brett has over 10 years of multifaceted experience in the electrical utility sector, all within the Valard Group, including large transmission, substation, and distribution EPC projects. Prior to his executive appointment, Brett was the Project Director of the historic Fort McMurray West 500 kV Project, comprising 500 km of transmission lines and two substations.

During this award-winning project, Brett proved his exemplary project management, execution, and overall leadership skills – consistent with his performance throughout his entire career. Prior to Fort McMurray West he managed numerous projects, all successfully complete with robust quality, safety, and cost performance.

Brett has also proven adept at facilitating external stakeholder relationships, inclusive of clients, investors, government agencies, and third-party utilities, across his various projects.

Brett’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Master’s Degrees in both Engineering and Business.
