Matthew Barlin

Chief Science Officer at Valence

Matthew Barlin has a diverse work experience, starting as a Naval Architect at CDI Corporation from 1997 to 2000. Matthew then worked as a Math, Science, and Engineering Teacher at McCann Technical from 2003 to 2014. During their time there, they actively contributed to the development of the AP Program and introduced innovative laboratory setups. In 2011, they founded their consulting firm called Barlin Data and Engineering Consultants, where they served as a Principal Consultant until 2018.

From 2017 to 2020, Matthew worked at Fr8 Network as a Data Scientist and Technical Advisor. Following that, they joined BlockScience in 2017, initially as an Advisor and later as a Lead Systems Engineer. At BlockScience, they were involved in researching and developing crypto-economic environments and managing technical relationships with customers.

Matthew'srecent experiences include serving as an Advisor at AliceNet from 2023 and working as the Chief Technology Officer at Valence from November 2022 to June 2023. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Science Officer at Valence.

Matthew Barlin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Webb Institute in 1997. Matthew then pursued a Master's degree in Ocean Engineering and Ocean Systems Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2000 to 2001.
