Dominique Beaini

Dominique Beaini's work experience begins in 2012 as a Biomedical Engineering Intern at École Polytechnique de Montréal. This experience was followed by an Aerospace Engineering Internship at École Polytechnique de Montréal in 2013 and an Engineering Internship at Bombardier Aerospace in 2014.

In 2015, Dominique started their PhD at École Polytechnique de Montréal and also served as a Teaching Assistant until 2017. During their PhD, Dominique worked as a PhD Research Intern in Computer Vision and Deep Learning at General Electric (GE) from 2016 to 2017.

In 2019, Dominique became a Machine Learning Scientist at Valence Discovery, where they led a team for the development of an automated applied machine learning platform. They also managed objectives, milestones, and deadlines for short-term and long-term projects and collaborated with academic and industrial partners.

From 2020 to 2021, Dominique held the position of Senior Machine Learning Scientist at Valence Discovery, where they designed state-of-the-art graph neural networks and generative models, managed and trained a team of 12 researchers across various countries, and contributed to scientific papers at international machine learning conferences.

In 2021, Dominique became an Associate Industry Member at Mila - Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute, followed by their current role as Research Unit Lead at Valence Discovery, starting in 2021. In this role, Dominique defines research objectives and ideas for the company, teaches and trains researchers and interns in graph neural networks and self-supervised learning, and supervises and writes scientific papers for international conferences.

Dominique's work experience also includes their role as an Adjunct Professor in Informatics at Université de Montréal, starting in 2022.

Dominique Beaini's education history begins in 2011 with a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics from Polytechnique Montréal. This was followed by a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Computer Vision, also from Polytechnique Montréal, completed between 2015 and 2016. Lastly, Dominique pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering with a focus on Mechanical Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal from 2016 to 2018.
