Shannon Brownlee has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Shannon started their career in 2020 as the Chief Technology Officer at Valence Vibrations. In 2022, they joined the USC Department of Biological Sciences and the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine as an AI Researcher.
Shannon also worked at the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering as a Viterbi Student Ambassador, Teaching Assistant, and Undergraduate Research Fellow from 2020 to 2023. Additionally, they interned as a Software Engineer at Microsoft in 2022 and performed research work as a Software Engineer Researcher Intern at Lucid Circuit, Inc. in 2020.
Shannon has also held leadership positions at Corpus Callosum USC and USC Center for AI in Society's Student Branch (CAIS++), serving as Co-President, Vice President, and Project Lead. Shannon has worked on various projects, including machine learning-based viral genomics and addressing loss of genome metadata.
Shannon Brownlee has an extensive education history. From 2015 to 2019, Shannon attended Torrey Pines High School. Following high school, Shannon enrolled at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2019 and pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor's degree in Quantitative Biology. During this time, Shannon also obtained a certification as a Wolfram Certified Technology Associate - Student Level in February 2019 from Wolfram. Building on this foundation, Shannon went on to complete a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at USC from 2023 to 2024.
