Charles Gilgen

Charles Gilgen serves as the Director of Security and Public Safety at Valley Health System since January 2021. Prior to this role, Charles accumulated extensive experience at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, holding various positions including Assistant Special Agent in Charge and Unit Chief of the Counterespionage Section from April 1999 to January 2021. Charles also served as a Police Officer for the City of Columbus Division of Police from January 1994 to March 1999 and held law enforcement roles at The Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University earlier in the career. Charles began in security at Akron Children's Hospital. Charles holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Safety Studies from Kent State University, earned between 1982 and 1986.
