Senior Staff Data Scientist, Computational Biology at Valo

Benjamin Rodriguez has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and computational biology. Benjamin currently holds the position of Staff Data Scientist, Computational Biology at Valo since April 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Valo from December 2019 to April 2022.

Before joining Valo, Benjamin served as an IRTA Fellow at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute from June 2017 to December 2019. Benjamin also worked as a Post-doctoral researcher at Baylor College of Medicine from October 2012 to May 2017.

One of Benjamin's early roles was as a Technical Scientist at The Ohio State University Medical Center from September 2010 to August 2012. In this position, they conducted research on next-generation sequencing, data analysis, and consultation. Benjamin was involved in genome-wide profiling of gene expression and DNA methylation in Acute Myeloid Leukemia, as well as algorithm development for methylCap-seq data analysis.

Benjamin Rodriguez pursued their education at the University of Oklahoma from 1998 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature/Letters. Subsequently, they enrolled at The Ohio State University from 2003 to 2010, during which they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Integrated Biomedical Sciences with a focus on Genetics.
