Merce Poindexter

Merce Poindexter currently serves as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Welfare and Compliance at Valparaiso University, a position held since September 2023. Prior experience includes roles at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Services (January 2021 - September 2023) and the University of Tennessee, where Merce advanced from Assistant Director to Associate Director for Football and Women’s Volleyball from February 2016 to January 2021. Earlier positions include Senior Academic Advisor for Football at Florida State University and Academic Coordinator for Football at Georgia Institute of Technology. Merce began the career as Assistant Academic Coordinator for Football at The University of Akron and has also worked in customer relations at the same institution.
