Malia Sakai

Malia Sakai is a Manager at van den Boom & Associates. Malia has previous experience working as an Assurance Senior at EY from October 2018 to April 2020, as well as Assurance Staff from September 2016 to August 2018. Sakai has also interned at EY as an Assurance Intern from June 2014 to August 2014. In addition, they have experience working as a Student Accountant and Director of Social Media at the Cal Poly Low Income Taxpayer Clinic from September 2015 to June 2016, where they assisted clients in resolving IRS issues, maintained the clinic's Facebook page and website, and coached students through client interactions and projects. Sakai has also worked as an Intermediate Accounting II Tutor at Orfalea College of Business from November 2013 to June 2015, where they held weekly drop-in hours to assist students, created worksheets and review guides, and worked with the professor to discuss areas of improvement. Finally, Sakai interned at CCI as a Summer Intern from June 2013 to September 2013.

After completing their undergraduate degree in accounting at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, Malia Sakai pursued a master's degree in financial accounting at the same school. Malia then earned a certification from the California Board of Accountancy as a Certified Public Accountant.
