Jim Kersten

Jim Kersten is an experienced professional in public outreach, engagement, and transportation management, currently serving as Manager of Public Outreach and Engagement at VHB since March 2024. Previously, Kersten held significant roles at MassDOT from October 2014 to December 2023, including Chief of Staff for the Highway Division, overseeing a large multi-modal division managing $2 billion in annual capital projects, and serving as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Liaison. Earlier experience includes coordination of disaster recovery programs at Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, construction inspection at MassDOT, and legislative roles within the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Throughout these positions, Kersten has demonstrated expertise in project management, public policy, and stakeholder engagement.
