Jason Etzel

Dr. Etzel completed his undergraduate studies at University of California, Berkeley, earning a BA in Biochemistry. He received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and went on to his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington, where he also served as chief medical resident for a year.

He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Oregon Health & Science University. His main specialization is inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis). During fellowship, he completed a Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Visiting Inflammatory Bowel Disease Fellowship at the University of North Carolina to obtain further subspecialization in this area. He also has interests in anorectal disorders (fissures, hemorrhoids) and colon cancer screening.

Dr. Etzel grew up in San Diego, CA. His outside interests are all the things he misses from Boy Scouts, such as hiking and camping. He also enjoys tackling complicated recipes at home with his wife.
