Paris Polydorou

Information Technology Operations Manager at VANCOUVER ISLAND REGIONAL LIBRARY

Paris Polydorou has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Paris held the role of Information Technology Operations Manager at Vancouver Island Regional Library (VIRL) starting in April 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Information Technology Security Consultant for the Government of Canada from January 2022 to April 2023. Paris also served as the Technical Systems Manager at Vancouver Island University from February 2021 to October 2021, and as a Project Manager from October 2019 to January 2021.

Before joining the Vancouver Island University, Paris contributed to the Communications Security Establishment | Centre de la sécurité des télécommunications as an Information Security Advisor. In this role, they developed cyber security advice and guidance for small and medium organizations and was involved in the development of the "Baseline Cyber Security Controls for Small and Medium Organizations." Paris also worked as a Cyber Security Analyst for the same organization from February 2018 to December 2018.

Paris's earlier work experience includes serving as an Information Technologist at Vancouver Island University from October 2012 to February 2018, and as a Professor from August 2006 to October 2011. Paris started their career as a Software Engineer at J&P Ltd. from August 1993 to November 1994. Additionally, Paris has had teaching roles as an Assistant Professor and Lecturer at Simon Fraser University (SFU) during the early 2000s.

Paris Polydorou has an extensive education history in the field of engineering. Paris first attended Simon Fraser University from 1988 to 1993, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Electronics Engineering. Following this, Paris pursued further studies at the same institution from 1995 to 1996, completing a Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Electrical Engineering. Paris then continued their academic journey at Simon Fraser University from 1997 to 2004, ultimately obtaining a PhD in Electrical Engineering.
