Rachel Weng is currently a Bioinformatics Research Assistant at Vancouver Prostate Centre, focusing on cancer genomics, specifically developing RNA sequencing analysis pipelines and analyzing data from bladder cancer patient cohorts. Weng is also an AI4ALL Changemaker and previously participated as an AI4ALL Scholar, where an AI model was programmed to identify cancers in liver CT scans. Past experience includes a research internship at Boston Children's Hospital and working as an English tutor for New Concept Education Inc. Additionally, Weng coached recreational and provincial stream gymnasts at Aura Rhythmics Gymnastics. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree at The University of British Columbia, Rachel's education is expected to be completed in April 2027.

The mission of the Vancouver Prostate Centre is to foster the paradigm of team-driven translational health research to discover molecular mechanisms of cancer progression and therapeutic resistance, and to use this information to develop new services and products that reduce suffering, improve survival for patients with cancer and promote regional growth of biotechnology.
