Gunther Birznieks

Gunther Birznieks is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in business development, technology leadership, and software engineering. Currently serving as Senior Vice President of Business Development at Vanda Pharmaceuticals since June 2003, Gunther previously co-founded and held the role of Chief Technology Officer at Extropia Pte Ltd from April 2000 to August 2003, where the company focused on mobile applications and business banking solutions in Southeast Asia. Gunther has also held significant positions, including Global Head of Web Engineering at Barclays Capital and Informatics support at the National Human Genome Research Institute, contributing to major projects such as the FUSION project aimed at understanding Type 2 Diabetes. Gunther's educational background includes a Master's Degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology/Cognitive Science, both from The Johns Hopkins University.
