Ghulam Abbas MD MHCM FACS has a diverse and extensive work experience in the medical field. Starting in 1996, they worked as a General Surgery Resident at Long Island Jewish Medical Center until 2002. From 2002 to 2004, they pursued a Cardiothoracic Fellowship at Rush University Medical Center. Ghulam then joined UPMC Health Plan in 2004, where they focused on Thoracic and Foregut Surgery for a decade. In 2014, Ghulam Abbas became the Director of Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery at Meridian Health System, a position they held until 2017. From 2017 to 2023, they served as the Chief of Division of Thoracic Surgery at West Virginia University (WVU) Medicine. Currently, Ghulam Abbas is employed by Vandalia Health as a Professor and Director of Cancer Services, with the responsibility of establishing the Vandalia Cancer Institute and developing a top-notch robotic thoracic and esophageal surgery program.
Ghulam Abbas MD MHCM FACS received their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Medicine from Aga Khan University Medical College, where they attended from 1989 to 1994. Later, from 2011 to 2013, they pursued a Master's in Healthcare Management (MHCM) at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
