Patti Pickering, MBA, LPC, currently serves as the Head of School and COO at Vanguard Prep School Dallas since May 2016. Prior to this role, Patti operated a private practice as a counselor from 2013 to 2016 and worked at Baylor Scott & White Health in various capacities, including Consultant for the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program (2011-2013) and as Vice President of the Transplant Institute (1995-2010). Patti holds an MBA from Dallas Baptist University and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Amberton University, alongside a Bachelor of Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University.

Vanguard is a therapeutic school serving a diverse student population that includes students with ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, depression and other mood disorders. The majority of our students are in the average to high average range of intellectual ability; however, enrollment decisions are made on a case by case basis. Enrollment is approximately 110 students from throughout the DFW community. Our mission is to enrich children’s lives by fostering independence, self-esteem, and compassion for others. Every child is valued regardless of diagnosis or challenge. We guide them in a positive direction and create a strong foundation for learning through social, emotional, and academic development.
