Tristan Co has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2017 with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) as a member of their Fabrication and Design Essentials Training Program. In this role, Tristan was responsible for creating 3D models, importing parts from online suppliers for use in assemblies, and generating drawings and bill-of-materials using Solidworks. Additionally, Tristan used a lathe, mill, and bandsaw to manufacture an aluminum part, and prototyped circuits on a breadboard then soldered the components together.
In 2018, Tristan took on the role of Propulsion Research Lead for the Rocket Project at UCLA. In this role, Tristan led the effort in analyzing collected data in order to improve the current design of a hybrid propellant rocket. Tristan also designed simulations for predicting tank pressure, thrust profile, and apogee using MATLAB and Python, and performed various tests on components and system such as static fires, hydrostatic pressure testing, and water flow measurements.
In 2019, Tristan was a Systems Analysis Intern at the Air Force Research Laboratory with Secret Clearance. In this role, they created a SQL Database of satellites using Microsoft Access and Python, and collected information from diverse amounts of public sources in order to determine possible capabilities of novel launch vehicles.
Tristan then moved to Northrop Grumman in 2020, taking on the role of Survivability Systems Intern. In 2021, Tristan was promoted to Systems Analysis Engineer with Top Secret Clearance. In this role, they developed software and analytical tools to model behavior of systems in multi-domain simulations using Python, MATLAB, and AFSIM. Tristan also identified key factors that influenced mission success through operational analysis and statistical analysis, and presented results and insights to senior leadership and provided roadmaps for future work.
Currently, Tristan is a Data Operations Engineer at Vannevar Labs, a position they have held since 2022.
Tristan Co attended the University of California, Los Angeles from 2017 to 2021 and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Theirfield of study was Mechanical Engineering.
