At the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, they increased the number of minorities at the District through mentorship and recruitment. Lauren also helped pass an ordinance for safe disposal of pharmaceuticals in Cook County. In addition, Lauren implemented water conservation workshops for Chicago Public Schools which have reached a total of over 1,000 students. Lauren also cultivated a partnership with Chicago’s Gardeneers program to donate rain barrels to low income community gardens and dropped off over 373 cubic yards of bio solids.

Lauren Banks has a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master's degree in Biomedical Science from Roosevelt University, and a Post Baccalaureate in Medical Science from Dominican University. Lauren also has a High School Diploma from Marian Catholic High School.
