John Shen

Manager, Detectors Mechanical Engineering at Varex Imaging

John Shen has over 15 years of work experience in various mechanical engineering roles. John began their career as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Ball Aerospace, where they evaluated mathematical models, designed sensor capture mechanisms, and contributed to proposal development. John then worked as a Controls and Transmissions Intern at Rolls-Royce, collaborating with engineers on a turboprop project. At Apple, they served as an iPod Accessories EPM Intern, managing reliability testing and selection of materials. As the Mechanical Team Leader for the Stanford Solar Car Project, they oversaw design, fabrication, and assembly for a solar-powered race car. John also worked as a Consultant at National Semiconductor, providing mechanical engineering support for a solar-powered vehicle project. At Western Digital, they served as a Senior Engineer, responsible for the design and development of a testing platform. John later joined RoboteX Inc as a Mechanical Engineer, leading the design of a SWAT robot and related accessories. At D2M, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer, and at Sila Nanotechnologies Inc, they served as an Equipment Engineer, responsible for the programming and design of pilot-scale tools. Currently, John is employed at Varex Imaging Corporation as a Manager of Detectors Mechanical Engineering.

John Shen attended Stanford University from 2003 to 2007, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. John then pursued further education at Stanford and obtained a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from 2007 to 2008.
