Ali Saberali

Co-Founder and Machine Learning Researcher at Variational AI

Ali Saberali has held several positions in the field of machine learning since 2011. Ali began their career as a Research Assistant at the University of Alberta. In 2014, they moved to The University of British Columbia and held three roles: Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant for the Master of Data Science Program, and Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Electrical and Computer Engineering Program. In 2018, they were a Machine Learning Research Intern at D-Wave Systems Inc. and currently holds the position of Co-Founder and Machine Learning Researcher at Variational AI, a company that uses state-of-the-art machine learning in a data-efficient method to rapidly generate novel and diverse compounds.

Ali Saberali completed their Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology between 2006 and 2011. Ali then went on to obtain their Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering - Communication Systems from the University of Alberta between 2011 and 2013. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of British Columbia between 2014 and 2018.
