Antti Hirvonen

Principal Graphics Software Architect at Varjo

Antti Hirvonen has a diverse range of work experience. Antti started their career as a Course Assistant at Aalto University, where they helped students with programming problems. Antti then founded a marketing/web development agency called Mediashake Oy, where they worked as a Co-founder and Lead Developer. In this role, they were involved in various aspects of the business, including backend and frontend development, server configuration, and project management.

Afterwards, Hirvonen worked at Futuremark as a Graphics Software Engineer and later as a Technical Lead in Graphics Benchmarking. Antti was responsible for programming projects such as the development of global illumination baking tools and a graphics API abstraction layer.

Following their time at Futuremark, Hirvonen joined UL Benchmarks as a Team Lead in Graphics Benchmarking, overseeing a team of graphics engineers. Antti was responsible for projects such as the development of the DirectX 12.1 and Raytracing benchmark called 3DMark Port Royal.

Currently, Hirvonen is working at Varjo as a Principal Graphics Software Architect. Antti previously held the role of Lead of Visuals & SDKs, where they oversaw the visual calibration and compositor projects.

Throughout their career, Hirvonen has gained experience in various programming languages and technologies, including Python, Django, Flask, JavaScript, and Backbone.

Antti Hirvonen completed their education in a chronological manner. Antti obtained a Master's Degree in Communication and Media Studies from Aalto University from 2011 to 2016. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Media Studies from Aalto University, spanning from 2007 to 2011. Additionally, they earned an Approbatur degree in Computer Science from Joensuun yliopisto in 2005-2006. Lastly, they finished their high school education at Joensuun Yhteiskoulun Lukio from 2003 to 2006.
