Ned Carlson

CEO in Residence at Varsity Healthcare Partners

Ned Carlson has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries such as healthcare, technology, and venture capital.

Starting in 1998, they worked as a Managing Director at Dawntreader Ventures, where they served as an investor, consultant, and advisor to various high-growth businesses in the SaaS, software, and technology-enabled service markets. During this time, Dawntreader managed over $250 million.

In 2001, Carlson became the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Xora, a location-based services software developer. Ned played a key role in the company's journey from its first round of funding to its successful exit when it was sold to Click Software.

Ned served as a Member of the Board of Directors for Peer39 by Sizmek, a semantic advertising company, from 2007 to 2012. Peer39 applied natural language analysis and machine learning to online advertising and was later acquired by DG, now known as Sizmek.

From 2013 to 2016, Carlson held the position of President and Board Director at GlobalCare, a technology-enabled service business focusing on intelligent claims routing, re-pricing optimization, cost containment, and data analysis for medical bill payers. Under their leadership, GlobalCare's strategy, product vision, and growth initiatives were guided, leading to a successful sale to Stratose.

In 2016, they joined Blueprint Health LLC as a Mentor and advisor in their healthcare technology accelerator program. Blueprint Health aimed to support and mentor healthcare startups in their growth and development.

Carlson also served as the Chief Executive Officer of Trumpet Behavioral Health from 2017 to 2022. Trumpet Behavioral Health provided evidenced-based behavioral health services to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental disabilities.

Ned was an Operating Partner at WindRose Health Investors in 2017, where they advised portfolio companies of the private equity fund on operating performance improvement, growth acceleration, and overall corporate strategy.

Since 2018, Carlson has been a Board Member and Advisor to the Board of the National Coalition for Access to Autism Services (NCAAS). NCAAS works towards preserving and expanding access to autism services and supports, advocating for the needs of families affected by autism spectrum disorder.

In 2022, they joined Varsity Healthcare Partners as a CEO in Residence, bringing their wealth of experience and expertise to the healthcare investment firm.
