Vartega’s Continuous Improvement Specialist will be a champion for waste reduction and process optimization throughout our operations. They will gather and analyze data, create and execute project plans, and drive waste and cost out of our processes while ensuring we meet customer requirements and operate in a safe manner.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support the development of systems and methods for robust on-the-job training, focusing on individual learning and process improvement
- Utilize Lean tools to identify sources of waste and recommend solutions for operational improvement
- Observe and analyze flow in order to create current state and future state value stream maps
- Contribute to the execution of Continuous Improvement initiatives based on future state value stream maps
- Collect and analyze data to support data-driven decisions; design and implement systems for gathering missing data if needed
- Assist in the use of simulation software for process design and optimization
- Develop, update, and ensure adherence to Standardized Work Instructions
- Support the creation and monitoring of KPIs related to Continuous Improvement
- Assist in the creation of dashboards to visualize KPIs for operational tracking
- Collaborate in the implementation and optimization of ERP systems
- Contribute to the creation and execution of a disciplined change management process
- Champion standardization practices throughout operations, ensuring consistency in processes
- Promote the principles of 5S, assist with audits, and support 5S events
- Support Kaizen initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment required
- 2-3 years demonstrated experience implementing Lean manufacturing principles
- Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification (minimum) or Black Belt preferred
- Experience in distribution/warehousing preferred
- Experience in carbon fiber/composited preferred
- Training in lean manufacturing, SixSigma, disciplined problem solving preferred
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate clearly with engineering, technical support, sales, and management.
- Proficient in workplace safety regulations
- Thorough understanding of products and equipment used in manufacturing
- Self-motivated, with attention to detail
- Able to problem solve in team environments
- Excellent time management skills, with proven ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Google Suite
- Interest in growing a career in recycling, advanced materials and/or cleantech
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of standing in the factory and at times, sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
