Mahesh K. has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Mahesh is currently the Co-Founder of Vayu Robotics, where they are responsible for building foundation models for sensing and mobility. Previously, they worked at Lyft as a Depth Hardware Engineer from 2019 to 2021, leading the depth hardware engineering team that was later acquired by Toyota. Prior to that, Mahesh was an integral part of the Autonomous Systems group at Apple from 2013 to 2019, where they worked on depth sensors, camera, and display hardware engineering. Mahesh was credited with developing ML algorithms and display modules for currently shipping products. Before joining Apple, they worked at Intel Corporation as a Research Scientist from 2010 to 2013, focusing on developing passive building blocks for Silicon Photonics Technology. Mahesh was also part of the early team at the Photonics technology lab. Additionally, Mahesh had a brief stint as a Graduate Intern at Intel Labs in 2008. Mahesh K. attended Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan Sr. Sec. School from 1995 to 2000. Following their secondary education, they enrolled at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, where they pursued a B.Tech degree from 2001 to 2005. Mahesh then continued their studies at Penn State University, completing a PhD between 2005 and 2010.
