Amr Awadallah has a strong background in technology and entrepreneurship. Amr is currently the Founder and CEO of Vectara, a semantic search software company that utilizes 100% neural search technology to provide highly relevant search results. Prior to Vectara, Amr held the position of VP of Developer Relations at Google Cloud from 2019 to 2021. Before joining Google, they co-founded Cloudera in 2008 and served as the Global CTO. Amr also held the role of Founder and CTO at Cloudera until 2019. Amr's career includes working as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Accel Partners in 2008 and VP of Engineering for Product Intelligence at Yahoo! Inc. from 2000 to 2008. Amr co-founded VivaSmart/Aptivia, which was acquired by Yahoo! Inc. in 2000, and they started their professional journey as a Senior Research Intern at Nortel Networks in 1998. Prior to that, they worked as a Research Intern at Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in 1997. Amr's work experience demonstrates their expertise and passion for technology, data analysis, and search algorithms.

Amr Awadallah pursued their education in a systematic manner, focusing on their passion for electrical engineering and computer engineering. Amr obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University, completing their studies from 1987 to 1992. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the same institution, attending Cairo University from 1992 to 1995. Amr then continued their academic journey by enrolling at Stanford University, where they obtained a PhD in Electrical Engineering spanning the years 1995 to 2007. Throughout their educational history, Amr showed a dedication to expanding their knowledge and expertise in the field of electrical engineering and computer engineering.
