Volker Nickel

Volker Nickel, Ph.D., M.Sc. has extensive experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, particularly in Quality Assurance and Compliance roles. Volker is currently the Vice President and Head of Corporate Quality and Compliance at VectivBio AG, where they are responsible for building and establishing a robust and efficient Corporate Quality & Compliance function. This includes evolving the company's Quality Management System (QMS) to drive the company's development as a fully integrated biopharmaceutical company with a focus on rare diseases.

Prior to their current role, Volker worked at CSL Behring for over a decade in various leadership positions. Volker was the Head of Global Clinical Quality Assurance (CQA), managing and developing a global GxP expert team across multiple locations. Volker also had global responsibilities for the implementation of CSL Behring's GCP/GLP/GRLP audit program and inspection management. Additionally, they led cross-functional governance meetings to identify and mitigate compliance risks in relation to development projects.

Before joining CSL Behring, Volker held a position as a Clinical Trial Manager/Senior CRA at Schwarz Pharma / Schwarz Biosciences GmbH. Volker also worked as a Clinical Research Scientist at Ardeypharm GmbH and had a trainee role at Proverum GmbH.

Volker Nickel has a strong research background as well. Volker has held postdoctoral positions at the Institute for Physiological Chemistry and Pathobiochemistry and Wake Forest University of Medicine. Volker has also served as a Lecturer and Mentor for Physiological Chemistry and Pathobiochemistry in the medical field at the University of Muenster.
