Val Andrei Fajardo

Val Andrei Fajardo is an experienced applied machine learning scientist specializing in natural language processing, currently employed at Vector Institute since January 2025. Prior roles include founding software and machine learning engineer at LlamaIndex, principal machine learning engineer at Metaverse Mind Lab, and various leadership positions at integrate.ai, where Val Andrei contributed to advancing machine learning science. Val Andrei’s career began in academia, serving as a teaching assistant and instructor at the University of Waterloo, complemented by mentorship experience at Springboard and a senior data scientist role at Precima. Val Andrei holds a PhD in Statistics from the University of Waterloo, a Master’s degree in Statistics from Brock University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics, also from Brock University.
