Kurt Emil Eriksen

Employee Board Member at Velux

Kurt Emil Eriksen is the current employee board member at Velux and the former secretary general of Active House Alliance. Kurt began their career with Active House Alliance in January 2013 and served in that role for four years until March 2017.

During their time with Active House Alliance, Eriksen was responsible for supporting the companies in the alliance and creating international awareness of the alliance and its vision. Kurt did this by participating in relevant conferences, networks, external communication, and face-to-face meetings. Kurt's focus was on the EU level and national level in several European countries, the USA, and Canada.

Eriksen was instrumental in developing the specifications and guidelines for evaluation of Active Projects, as well as the calculation tools used to evaluate Active House projects. Kurt also helped develop a label for houses that have been evaluated and verified in accordance with the specification and calculation tools. In addition, they helped set up the Active House award, which was given to Green Solution House in 2016. Kurt also worked on setting up a new homepage with a focus on dialog with architects and developers. Finally, they helped set up a secretariat in Brussels with a focus on dialog with the European Commission on the development of the framework for the building industry within sustainability, energy efficiency, and indoor comfort.

Kurt Emil Eriksen has a BSc in Energy, Construction and Buildings from the Engineering College of Copenhagen.
