Vasily Nikonov

Vasily Nikonov has extensive work experience in various roles and positions. Vasily is currently the Founder and CEO of Velvet.Capital since February 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as a Project Leader from May 2021 to February 2022 and as a Senior Consultant from June 2020 to May 2021.

Before joining BCG, Vasily worked at LongHash Ventures as a Venture Builder from June 2019 to December 2019, where they supported international startups in scaling their businesses and raising funds.

Vasily also pursued an MBA from INSEAD and was a candidate from January 2019 to December 2019. During their time at INSEAD, Vasily held leadership roles as the VP of the Entrepreneurship Club and VP of the Fintech and Blockchain Club.

Prior to their MBA, Vasily worked at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in various roles. Vasily was a Consultant from March 2018 to December 2018, a Junior Consultant from September 2017 to March 2018, a Senior Associate from June 2017 to September 2017, an Associate from June 2016 to June 2017, a Junior Associate from November 2015 to June 2016, and a Visiting Associate from June 2015 to November 2015.

During their time at BCG, Vasily worked on projects related to investment strategy, business modeling, strategic framework development, growth strategy, portfolio management, and organizational structure for various clients, including Sovereign Wealth Funds, top Russian banks, and family-owned investment holdings and private equity companies.

Vasily Nikonov obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from both The Wharton School and INSEAD in 2019. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). Additionally, they completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics from the same institution. In terms of certifications, Vasily obtained the Professional Scrum Product Owner certification from Scrum.org in September 2018 and the Certified Agile Professional certification from ICAgile in March 2017.
