Abigail Cabush has been working in the biomedical engineering field since 2022, when they started at Vena Vitals. From 2018 to 2020, they held multiple internships at Abbott, including Sterilization Engineering Intern, Operations Intern, Manufacturing Intern, International Logistics Intern, and International Supply Chain Intern. During this time, they authored technical documents and statistical justification to eliminate a manufacturing step for an Abbott Vascular product, saving labor costs of $9625/yr and increasing manufacturing capacity.
Prior to their internships, Abigail was a student athlete and research assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2018-2020. During this time, they co-authored a publication describing a biosensor that uses nano-plasmonic ELISA for ultra-sensitive detection of bacteria in food matrixes, analyzed data patterns to suggest explanations for unexpected results and problems with methodology, and ran sample filtration, checkpoint-style enrichment, evaluation of capture efficiency, and colorimetric detection.
Abigail has also been self-employed since 2018 as a private swim lesson instructor. During this time, they managed more than 10 clients, led weekly lessons, and developed personalized curriculums for students ages 3-12 to clearly present technique corrections and introduce fun. Abigail also maintained relationships in the community to sustain their customer base for multiple summers.
Abigail Cabush received their High School Diploma from Arrowhead High School in 2018. Abigail then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they are expected to complete in 2022.
