Hudson further pursued their education at Catonsville Community College in Catonsville, MD, specializing in engineering from 1968 to 1970.

In 1971, Hudson earned a diploma from the United States Military Academy Preparatory School, where they studied college preparation and military art & science studies. Building upon this foundation, they went on to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point from 1972 to 1976. During this time, they completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Applied Science & Engineering/Liberal Arts.

Hudson's commitment to their military career led him to various specialized training programs and schools. Maurice "Ed" received a diploma from the British Royal Military Academy (RMA) at Sandhurst, Camberly, England, in 1974, where they studied military operational art and science studies. Additionally, they completed several diplomas at different military schools, including the US Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, GA, where they focused on leadership and infantry tactics, parachuting, and infantry branch qualification.
