Glenn W Laub MD is an academic cardiothoracic surgeon, engineer, and serial entrepreneur who has performed 5,000+ cardiac surgeries over his career, most recently serving as the Chairman of Cardiac Surgery at the Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Laub was the founder and CEO of Defibtech, a company that invented and manufactured a novel defibrillator. Dr. Laub was responsible for the research and development of the arrhythmia algorithm, which was a central proprietary component of the device and significantly exceeded the benchmark requirements for this type of device.
This project resulted in numerous patents and the successful commercial release of an AED, which was recognized internationally with multiple awards such as the “Design of the Year Award” from the Design Museum in London and was selected to be in the special exhibition “Design Takes on Risk, Safe” in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. In 2012, Defibtech was acquired by Nihon Khoden, as an independent subsidiary of the corporation. Dr. Laub graduated with a BS in Bio-Chemical Engineering from Yale University, and an MD from Dartmouth Medical School
