Michael Moore has a diverse work experience. Michael served as an Honorary Governor and later Governor at the Ditchley Foundation from 2010 to the present. Michael was the Chief Executive at the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association from August 2019 onwards. Michael chaired The Borders Book Festival starting in December 2015. Michael was an Advisory Board Member at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University from November 2017 to March 2021. Michael worked as a Senior Adviser at PwC focusing on Brexit, devolution, and indyref2 from January 2016 to July 2019. Michael was a Visiting Professor at the International Public Policy Institute, University of Strathclyde from May 2016 to April 2019. Michael served as a Trustee/director at THE TWEED FOUNDATION from November 2015 to March 2018. Michael held the role of Deacon at Scottish Borders Manufacturers Corporation in 2017. Michael started their career as a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons from May 1997 to April 2015. Michael also worked as the European Business Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister from December 2013 to March 2015.

Michael Moore attended Strathallan School from 1977 to 1982. Following that, they attended Jedburgh Grammar for a year from 1982 to 1983. Michael then pursued higher education at The University of Edinburgh, where they studied Politics and Modern History, graduating with an MA (Hons) degree in 1987.
