Alex Carrillo is a highly experienced software engineer with a diverse range of skills gained from working with various companies ranging from Space Exploration to Agriculture. Starting with Control Group in 2012, Alex worked with various companies such as Sphere Labs Inc., Yale Center for Engineering and Innovation Design and imec. In 2013, Alex worked with Yale GRAB Lab as an Undergraduate Research Assistant, where they implemented various methods for embedding sensors within 3D printed end effectors. In 2014, they worked with Tempo Automation as an engineering intern developing software for a custom SMD pick 'n' place machine and a mechanical feeder system for SMT cut tape sections. After graduation, they worked with Apple in 2015 as an engineering intern and designed algorithms to solve a research problem in sensor processing. Afterward, they worked with SpaceX as a Software Engineer, Flight Software, Automation Team, developing test automation software used company-wide, from rocket engine tests in Texas to pressurized vehicle checkouts in California, and started in Dragon spacecraft vehicle testing. Alex later worked with FarmWise in 2019 as a Senior Robotics Software Engineer where they developed novel robotic systems in an untapped market within agriculture and was the product owner for several calibration technologies and robotics software owner of the end effector soil depth control problem. As of March 2021, Alex is working with Venturi Astrolab, Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer, developing commercial planetary rovers with emphasis on robotic software and embedded/platform software to serve lunar and Martian surface exploration in this decade and beyond.
Alex Carrillo received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Yale University. Prior to attending Yale, Carrillo attended Stuyvesant High School, but no details regarding degree or field of study were provided.
