Scott Minium has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Scott began their career in 1992 as a Shift Engineer at the Nuclear Power Training Unit (NPTU) in Charleston, where they supervised and trained Navy nuclear operators. Scott then moved on to serve as an Engineer Officer on the USS Honolulu (SSN-718), responsible for the safe operation of the nuclear propulsion plant and ship support systems.
In 2006, Minium became the Commanding Officer of the USS City of Corpus Christi, where they led all aspects of training, operation, and maintenance of a nuclear fast attack submarine. Scott developed operational plans and executed them under stressful environments and complete autonomy.
Minium went on to work as the Director of the Office of Countering Nuclear Threats at the Office of the Secretary of Defense, where they collaborated with interagency and international partners to reduce the threat of nuclear terrorism. Scott also had responsibilities for two major programs of international engagement.
From 2012 to 2014, Minium served as the Squadron Commander at Submarine Squadron FIFTEEN. Scott led a staff of 70 military and civilian personnel and mentored the Commanding Officers of seven nuclear-powered submarines. Scott also played a pivotal role in revitalizing emergency planning efforts to mitigate risks to in-port nuclear-powered vessels.
In 2014, Minium became a CNO Fellow at the CNO Strategic Studies Group, where they researched and developed concepts for the Navy's Talent Management System of the 2030s. Scott advocated for a general-purpose artificial tutor and assessment system to revolutionize teaching and learning.
Minium then joined the Chief of Naval Operations Staff (OPNAV) in 2015 as the Resource Sponsor for Integrated Undersea Surveillance Systems. In this role, they provided programmatic oversight and policy development for the world's only wide-area undersea surveillance system. Scott also worked with Navy, interagency, and international partners to maintain and expand the scope of undersea surveillance.
In 2018, Minium joined BAE Systems, Inc. as the Director of Business Development, responsible for driving business growth. Scott served in this role until 2023 when they joined Ventus Solutions (VES) as a Senior Consultant and Director of Business Development.

Scott Minium earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the United States Naval Academy, where they studied from 1984 to 1988. Later, they pursued a Master's degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University, completing their studies between 2001 and 2003. In 2009 to 2010, they attended the U.S. Naval War College, obtaining a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.
