Susan Byrd has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Susan started their career as a Head of Department at Passmores School and Technology College in 2005, where they stayed until 2011. Susan then joined Passmores Cooperative Learning Community as an Assistant Principal from 2011 to 2017. From 2015 to 2017, they also worked as a Specialist Leader of Education at the National College for Teaching and Leadership, focusing on developing leadership capacity.
