John Flynn

Principal Engineer at Verasonics

John Flynn has over 30 years of experience in the engineering field. John began their career in 1984 as a MTS III at Hughes Aircraft Company. John then moved to XonTech International in 1989 as an Analyst. In 1992, they returned to Hughes Aircraft Company as a Staff Engineer. In 1993, they joined Philips Healthcare as a DSP/Ultrasound Engineer. In 1996, they started their own consulting business as a Wireless and DSP Engineer. In 1999, they joined Metawave Inc. as a Principle DSP Engineer. In 2001, they were a Graduate Appointee at the Applied Physics Laboratory - University of Washington. In 2004, they joined Calypso Medical Technologies as a Sr. Signal Processing Engineer. In 2009, they returned to their personal consulting business as an Ultrasound System Engineer. In 2016, they joined Verasonics® Inc. as a Principal Engineer, where they work on algorithm development for ultrasound advanced imaging, waveform generation, and processing modes. John has also done scientific conference presentations, article publishing, and patent filing, as well as data-driven transceiver and transducer modeling for linear and nonlinear impairments, and power supply/thermal effects.

John Flynn received their BSEE from Washington State University in 1984, followed by an MSEE from the University of Southern California in 1988 with a focus in signal/image processing. John then went on to obtain their PhDEE from the University of Washington in 2004, specializing in wireless/acoustics/signal processing.
