Sean R. Birnbaum, P.E., CEM, LEED-AP, Fitwel Ambassador, has a diverse work experience in engineering, energy management, and facility operations. Sean R. currently holds the position of Senior Director of Engineering at Verdani Partners since August 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Facility Operations Engineer at The Building People from September 2018 to August 2021, where they provided services in project development, project management, construction oversight, and energy management for the National Weather Service in Alaska. Sean R. also served as an Energy/BCAMP Manager at ASRC Federal from January 2017 to May 2018. In addition, Sean has experience as a Control Systems Design Engineer at Meridian Systems, Inc. and as a Mechanical EIT at PDC Inc. Engineers. Sean R. started their career as an Energy Engineer at NORTECH Sustainable Environment, Energy, Health & Safety Professional Services, where they performed energy audits, energy modeling, and life cycle cost analysis for commercial buildings. Sean's early experiences include working as a Test Engineer at IMI Precision Engineering. With their extensive background, Sean has developed expertise in engineering, energy management, and facility operations.

Sean R. obtained an Executive MBA in Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services from Quantic School of Business and Technology in 2022. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Green Technologies from the University of Southern California between 2014 and 2019. Sean also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, which they completed from 2005 to 2009. Sean R. initially began their studies at the College of Southern Nevada in 2004, participating in a Transfer Program for Mechanical Engineering.

Sean has also obtained several additional certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. Sean R. earned a Mechanical Engineer PE certification from the State of Alaska in February 2021, showcasing their expertise in mechanical engineering. Additionally, they are a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certified by the Association of Energy Engineers, having obtained this certification in September 2020.
