Jason Sprott

CTO | Co-Founder at Verilab

Jason Sprott is a Co-Founder and CTO of Verilab, where they have been responsible for creating and leading teams across various locations including the UK, Europe, and North America. Jason manages the company's technical direction, international business development, sales, strategic partnerships, and R&D. Additionally, they provide coaching and mentoring to the team and manages client relationships. Jason is an expert in functional verification for ASIC and FPGA.

Prior to their role at Verilab, Jason founded Purple Pixel Limited, a consultancy focused on ASIC design and verification. Jason started the company in 1996 and was involved in developing pragmatic development techniques for increasing ASIC and FPGA gate counts.

Before founding Purple Pixel, Jason worked at Dense-Pak Microsystems as an Engineer Analyst. In this role, they designed new memory components and sub-systems for high-speed digital applications, with a focus on market windows, cost control, and end applications. Many of the products they worked on were for defense and high-reliability designs.

Earlier in their career, Jason worked at GEC Marconi Avionics and GEC Ferranti, both based in Edinburgh, UK. At GEC Marconi Avionics, they were a Digital Systems Design Engineer, specializing in high-speed digital ASIC and FPGA design for graphics processing, such as head-up displays and digital maps. At GEC Ferranti, Jason served as a Commissioning Engineer, where they were responsible for commissioning and debugging mission planning computers and microprocessor-based flight information products. Jason also developed software for the control and testing of products at both companies.

Overall, Jason Sprott has extensive experience in the semiconductor industry, with expertise in ASIC and FPGA design, functional verification, consulting, and project management.

Jason Sprott holds a Masters degree in Digital Systems Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, which they completed in 1994. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained various certifications and completed several courses on topics such as data-driven learning design, blockchain, pitching oneself, and agile requirements foundations. These certifications were obtained from institutions such as LinkedIn and Scrum.org, with the most recent certification being obtained in January 2021.
