Jeff McNeal

ASIC & FPGA Verification Consultant at Verilab

Jeff McNeal has over 20 years of experience in the field of ASIC and FPGA verification.

From 2014 to the present, Jeff has been working as an ASIC & FPGA Verification Consultant at Verilab. In this role, they have contracted with various clients globally, focusing on the verification of audio processing DSP blocks. Jeff has worked with mixed signal and DSP UVM verification teams, performing requirements tracing and ensuring compliance with product requirements.

Prior to joining Verilab, Jeff worked at Lattice Semiconductor from 2011 to 2014 as a Sr. Staff Mixed Signal ASIC Verification Engineer. During their tenure, they established a mixed signal verification methodology in collaboration with analog and digital engineers, as well as the CAD team. This involved implementing an analog-top, UVM/SV + Verilog AMS based verification environment using existing Cadence toolset and licenses.

From 2004 to 2011, Jeff held the position of Staff Mixed Signal Verification Engineer at Synopsys. Jeff contributed to the development of a standardized mixed signal verification flow, collaborating with analog and digital engineers to establish rules and guidelines for analog designers and analog modelers. Jeff also setup a cosimulation flow using SystemVerilog and FastSPICE for full chip mixed signal simulations.

Before joining Synopsys, Jeff worked as an ASIC Verification Consultant at Avery Design Systems from 2003 to 2004.

From 1999 to 2003, Jeff served as an R&D ASIC Verification Engineer at Intel Corporation. In this role, they led the architecture design of the Ethernet switch verification environment. Jeff developed a reusable and portable environment used on multiple chips, incorporating coverage driven, constrained random techniques with assertions. Jeff supported various networking protocols and IO connections, and also developed training materials for new engineers.

Prior to their tenure at Intel, Jeff worked as a Sr. Engineer at Level One Communications from 1998 to 1999.

In 1996, Jeff started their career as a MECOP Intern at ESI.

Jeff McNeal earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Oregon State University, where they studied from 1991 to 1996. Jeff went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering specializing in Digital Signal Processing at the same institution, completing their studies from 1996 to 1998.
