Rong Yan

Rong Yan is the current Chief Technical Officer at Verishop. Prior to this, they served as the Senior Director of Engineering at Snapchat, Inc. from October 2014 to February 2020. In this role, Rong led a team of 200+ engineers across 4 locations in developing, optimizing, and maintaining core product features for Snapchat, such as the Camera, Messaging, Stories, Discover, Memories, and Identity.

Before their time at Snapchat, Rong was the Director of Data Science and Infrastructure at Square from August 2013 to October 2014. In this role, they were responsible for building up new engineering areas in data science and data infrastructure at Square. Rong successfully delivered a number of major data products for internal and external customers during their time at Square. Rong also grew the Data Science and Infrastructure team by hiring new engineering talent and doubling its size to over 40 people in just 6 months.

Prior to their time at Square, Rong served as an Engineering Manager/Research Scientist at Facebook from November 2009 to July 2013.

Rong Yan received a BS in Computer Science from Tsinghua University and a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.
