Elizabeth Garland

Chief Program Officer at Verité

Elizabeth Garland currently serves as Chief Program Officer and was previously the Senior Director for Raw Materials Programs at Verité since February 2013. In this role, Elizabeth leads initiatives to enhance labor practices within global supply chains, particularly focusing on agricultural sectors such as coffee, cocoa, and seafood, while addressing issues like child and forced labor. Prior to Verité, Elizabeth had an academic career as a cultural anthropology scholar, holding positions at Union College, Dartmouth College, Smith College, and the College of African Wildlife Management. Elizabeth earned a PhD and MA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Chicago, an MA in International Relations and African Studies from Johns Hopkins SAIS, and a BA in Anthropology from Amherst College.
