Laura Werner possesses extensive experience in public health emergency preparedness and response, currently serving as the Deputy Director of the Division of Emergency Preparedness, Response and Injury Prevention at the Vermont Department of Health since July 2015. In this role, Laura manages public health emergency planning, supervises staff, coordinates preparedness initiatives, and oversees program budgets, including serving as Deputy Incident Commander for the COVID-19 Response. Previous roles include direct service support and supervisory positions at Step By Step, Inc., and various leadership positions with UNICEF, including Chief of the Vanuatu Field Office. Laura's academic credentials include two Master's degrees from the University of Pittsburgh in Public Health and International Development, and dual Bachelor's degrees in Environmental Health and Biology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
