David Bergh

Interim President at Vermont State University

David Bergh has a diverse and extensive work experience. David currently serves as the Interim President at Vermont State University starting in November 2023. Prior to that, they were the President of Cazenovia College from January 2022 to January 2024. David also held various roles at Cazenovia College starting as the Vice President for Planning and Institutional Effectiveness from August 2016 to July 2019, then as the Executive Vice President/Vice President for Planning from July 2019 to January 2022.

Before their time at Cazenovia College, David Bergh worked at Johnson State College. David served as the Dean of Student Life and College Relations, where they had various responsibilities including overseeing career development, representing the college in the community, and chairing diversity and inclusion initiatives. David also served as the Dean of Students and Associate Dean of Students at Johnson State College and held positions such as Director of Student Activities and Assistant Dean.

Prior to their higher education career, David Bergh worked at the Silver Bay YMCA - Conference and Family Retreat Center as the Assistant Director of Conference Services and Assistant Director of The Writer's Voice of the Silver Bay Association.

Throughout their career, David Bergh has demonstrated strong leadership and achieved notable accomplishments in areas such as LGBTQ-friendly recognition, establishing career and internship centers, strengthening community relations, and overseeing capital campaigns and comprehensive plans.

David Bergh pursued their education at Allegheny College, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science in 1991. David then furthered their studies at the University at Albany, SUNY, earning a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) degree in Public Management in 1997. David'seducational journey culminated at the University of Vermont, where they completed a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies in 2008.
